THE GIFT OF THE GIRL CHILD
- She is the burst of gold on an early sky, the chirp of birds as the day arrives.
- She is the fragrance of a content earth, after a breezy shower has quenched its thirst.
- She is every petal in the flowers of spring, the nip in the air of a winter evening.
- Meant to be held close, she’s a precious child, but to be bounced into the sky when she wants to fly.
- She is not to be denied the lunar swing and the stars she desires to wear like a queen.
- Allow her to fall when she reaches for the rainbow, let her cry when she scrapes an elbow.
- Stop not the tears of love from her heart or the prick of conscience when she goes too far.
- A broken toy, a prize she missed, a just reprimand for doing dangerous things.
- Her tears are only for such growing up pangs, not for repression at society’s hands.
- She is born an image of the goddess we adore, bind her not to only household chores.
- View her not as lesser than your boys, allow her the power of action and voice.
- Give her the knowledge to know wrong from right,
- So she knows that fear is not the name of life.
- Raise your daughter with the strength to face every adversity with patience and grace.
- May no tears of hers have complaints to convey, of man’s abusive and biased ways.
- May life give her reasons to celebrate, not situations to weep in helpless rage.
- Let a prayer reach every little daughter today, that her life be cherished in every way.
