Birthdays are a moment of celebration. It becomes really special when we receive gifts from our loved ones. Materialistic gifts of course are a part and parcel of our lives. But there are few gifts that change our lives completely. That’s the gift of trust, care, love and affection which last forever. Many people are a part of our journey of life, but not all of them are meant to stay till the end. Some people come in the later part of our lives and become an integral part of our lives.

Nisha in her forties was leading a normal life like other women. The regular chores of attending her family gave her immense happiness. Little did she realise that she had another side too. She was a rare user of social apps like Facebook and WhatsApp. Once out of boredom she happened to browse through her Facebook account. She happened to see a number of friend requests in a row. Out of all the people she was attracted to the profile of a person named Aakash.  Little did Nisha realise that this was the person who was going to bring about a sea change in her regular flow of life. She accepted his request. He immediately texted her on messenger. After a couple of days they exchanged their mobile numbers and had a regular conversation about each others’ priorities. Both of them possessed many things in common which bonded them. Aakash was an entrepreneur and a free lance writer for magazines. He was shocked to hear from Nisha that she had given up her job and had even neglected her passion for writing. He doted Nisha for her writing skill. Aakash had recognized her skill through her refined conversation over phone and two to three liner messages in course of their WhatsApp chats. He told her that she was demeaning herself by ignoring her personal interests. Apart from being a home maker, she must try to upgrade herself professionally too. That would create a status for her. It would help her financially too. Aakash’s words penetrated into Nisha’s soul. But how should she start all over again? Will she be able to hone her skills again? These questions were answered by Aakash who added her in poetry writing groups in the social media. Initially Nisha found it a bit difficult to use technology, but somehow she mastered it in a short time. She started taking part in the contests conducted in the groups. She received gradation there which motivated her to a great extent. Aakash helped her by downloading images and providing other technical support. Nisha’s family too rejoiced in her creativity taking shape. Nisha slowly gained popularity.

One fine day on her birthday she received a small parcel. It was from Aakash but he had not mentioned it in course of their conversation. She opened the small box to find beautifully designed visiting cards bearing her name. Aakash had appointed her as the co-founder of a blog that he had been writing for. She couldn’t believe her eyes. She called Aakash immediately and thanked him. He reverted by saying that none other than Nisha could do justice to the post. He had been waiting for the right moment to break the ice. Moreover he wanted Nisha to come out of her shell to create a unique identity for herself. Nisha thanked Aakash whole heartedly for chiselling her to evolve in a new perspective.

I’m sure the readers of STHREEJEEVAN too have wonderful memories to share about their loved ones and the wonderful gifts they received from them. We are eagerly waiting to hear from you. Do pen down your experiences to us at sthreejeevan@gmail.com.
