Emotions are an integral part of our character. It’s both a blessing and a curse to feel everything deeply. Emotions at times act as a parameter for an individual’s mental health. Peals of laughter, hysterical cries or outbursts of anger are few reactions with which we judge a person to be emotional. Sensitivity is also another aspect. People who take things to heart are termed as sensitive. We women are sensitive and emotional as well. That doesn’t mean men are not, they too feel but the only difference is that they don’t exhibit their emotions like us.

Now a question arises if being emotional is wrong. It isn’t but we must ensure that it doesn’t overpower our other attributes. Emotions are important in maintaining cordiality in a relationship. But at the same time they have the capacity to bring about destruction of our specific characteristic traits. Our emotions must be a driving force to create something great and good which would give us an identity. This would make us unique as well. I get reminded of Mother Teresa who was sympathetic towards the poor and the needy. She went down personally to help those who were in misery. At the same time her strong will and determination to serve in an undeterred way till her last breath can’t be forgotten. Same was the mindset of Florence Nightingale who brought about a revolutionary change in nursing and hospital services. She was from an affluent family but she gave up her luxury and comfort to serve the war victims. Even when she was on her death bed she did her job well as a guide and counselor for the upcoming nurses.

We too like many other women can prove our mettle by following the thoughts generated by our brain. Be emotional but don’t create a situation of self-pity as people might listen for sometime but later might turn you into a laughing stock. The famous writer Oscar Wilde says “The advantage of emotions is that they lead us astray.” So buddies go astray in exploring more and create something new. Always see to it that what you do has your signatory mark which carves your identity.
